UNIDO ITPO Italy interacts with many Latin American sector associations and enterprises to promote relationships between Italian industries and local SMEs supporting them with assistance and appropriate information. To this end, UNIDO ITPO Italy can rely on the support of UNIDO regional offices, Chambers of Commerce and Eurocentros of the AL-Invest programme.
UNIDO’s regional network in Latin America is supported by a Regional Office in Uruguay responsible also for the activities in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Peru; a Regional Office in Colombia responsible also for the activities in Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Venezuela; and a regional Office in Mexico, further linked to an ITPO Mexico, aimed at promoting cooperation relationships between local and foreign entrepreneurs interested to invest in the Country.
UNIDO ITPO Italy participates in AL-Invest, a programme funded by the European Union to develop and promote long-term commercial agreements, technology transfer, joint-ventures and other investments between European and Latin American companies.
Sector meetings coordinated and set up for over 400 organisations and Institutions operating in Europe and Latin America gave satisfactory results contributing to the finalisation of economic agreements. Thus the exchanges of information paved the way to long-term collaborations and industrial investments.
The agro food sector ranks among the most important ones in Latin America and offers entrepreneurs many opportunities thanks to the variety of its natural resources and its vast territory. The increasing trade between Latin America and Europe has led Latin American firms to increase their production standards by adopting new technologies and equipment. To increase the competitiveness of the area, it is also necessary to improve the production capacity and to develop services, infrastructures, transports and telecommunications.
