UNIDO ITPO Italy promotes Investments and technology transfer in Egypt with the support of the local UNIDO IPU (Investment Promotion Unit) based in Cairo.

 

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affaires (General Directorate Cooperation and Development) launched with Egyptian, Moroccan, Jordanian counterparts development programmes aimed supporting local SMEs. 

 

The Integrated Programme for Egyptian Smes development aims to support local firms both technically and financially.

 

The Programmes in the four Mediterranean countries have some common features i.e. the  opening of an Industrial Promotion Office managed by UNIDO and the provision (to local SMEs and joint ventures) of a soft loan for the purchase of Italian goods and services. The soft loan is accessed through the banks operating in the country.

 

With the support of the Investment Promotion Unit, UNIDO ITPO Italy grants free assistance to Italian companies interested in starting up industrial activities in Egypt by:

 

·  the financial-economic evaluation of Investment Project

 

·  support in the preparation of technical documents to the achievement of financing and the industrial partners search

 

UNIDO IPU Egypt promotes Foreign Direct Investments and the creation of partnership projects between Egyptian and European companies with the major goal of strengthening the competitiveness of the Iocal industrial system.

 

Located in the General Authority for Investment (GAFI), its local counterpart, UNIDO IPU Egypt is in charge of the implementation of the Integrated Support for the Development of Egyptian SMEs".

 

ITPO and IPU collaborate in the organization and the preparation of Institutional and Industrial meetings based on the requests of businessmen association and of the entrepreneurs. 

 

UNIDO ITPO Italy and IPU Egypt work closely in the Investment promotion in the following sectors: food industry, textile and garments, tannery, marble, electric and electronics, furniture, environment and renewable energy.
