UNIDO ITPO Internship Programme addresses to students with different backgrounds, such as: economics (preferably with a specialization in industrial development policies), international law (with a focus on investments and technology transfer), social sciences (in particular political sciences and international relations), engineering (with a knowledge of environment/energy and agro-industry sectors), information sciences, finance (with a focus on quality management and trade facilitation.
Candidates must hold a degree (first level at least) and a strong interest for development issues; previous experiences in international organizations working in the areas of interest for UNIDO are an asset. In addition to that, it is necessary an excellent knowledge of English (knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset) and good computer skills. Therefore, candidates should have good communication and relational skills, and be able to work in an international and multicultural environment.
The objective of the internship, which has a variable duration, is to promote a better understanding of the Organization’s mission and goals and, at the same time, to provide interns an insight into UNIDO efforts in trying to solve problems confronting emergent and developing economies.
Interns, under the coordination of a supervisor, are fully involved in the ITPO’s day-to-day work: they conduct research on items of direct relevance to the Office, revise and analyze documents (such as Country Reports, technical dossiers, reports on investment policies and taxation systems developed by local Governments and other relevant publications); therefore, they provide valuable support concerning promotional activities for a portfolio of selected local projects.
At the end of the experience, interns must present to the coordinator a final report on the activities that they carried out supporting ITPO Italy’s staff.
UNIDO ITPO Italy offers young graduates the opportunity to do an internship within its Internship Programme».
