Within the framework of Delegate Programme, UNIDO ITPO Italy assisted the Mozambique Delegate in the visit within Macfrut, the biggest Italian fair in the fruit and vegetable sector.
In particular, the Representative from the Investment Promotion Centre of Mozambique considered useful to participate in this fair, because of the great number of existing projects in the above mentioned sector, both in his projects portfolio and in the Mozambique context in general.
With the support of ITPO Staff, Mr. Bires met several companies, thus having the opportunity to know the existing cutting edge technologies in the fields of tomato processing, fruit processing, and packaging.
Concerning the fresh products, the Delegate visited the Unitec Group Stand, leader in the manufacture of equipment for the selection and grading of fresh fruit. Mr Bires showed a strong interest toward manufactured equipments, undertaking to report to local companies engaged in the production of fresh fruit.
Always in the grading sector, ITPO Staff accompanied the Delegate to the stand of Rg Impianti, specialized in the processing of three vegetables, namely carrots, potatoes and onions. Due to the massive presence of these products in the African country, Mr. Bires considered useful to find all the relevant information in order to share them with local counterparts. In addition, the company showed to the Delegate a machine for washing potatoes, ideal for small farmers in Mozambique.
Particularly interesting was the visit to the Rev solutions stand, a company engaged in the packing of fruit and vegetables. Thanks to company officers, an operating machine that allows to pack baskets of any type, using a single material for the closure of the package, has been shown to the Delegate.
This method allows a better waste management and it has therefore evaluated as potentially useful for Developing Countries as Mozambique, where the environmental issues have to be carefully take into account.
