UNIDO is represented by and acts through designated country or regional offices, a network of Investment and Technology Promotion Offices, National Cleaner Production Centres, and International Technology Centres.

UNIDO maintains strong communication and cooperation links with Ministries of Industry, the closest to UNIDO’s mandate, links which also enormously facilitate the work of ITPO Italy.

UNIDO ITPO Italy, though fully participating in the UNIDO HQ network, is linked directly to a set of institutional counterparts including public ones in charge of promoting investment, industry, or the private sector, located in several developing countries whether in the Mediterranean (Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, and Egypt), Latin America, Asia, or Sub-Saharan Africa.

ITPO Italy further works closely with sector, industry or craft associations (Employers’ groups, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, other specialized groupings of industries, crafts, or trades) in the countries where it is actively engaged in cooperation.

MDGs and Poverty

Together with UNIDO Vienna, ITPO Italy contributes to the reaching of MDG 1, the halving of poverty, by acting on the creation of sustainable jobs in industry. It further intends to support the reaching of this goal by giving greater importance to the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa. Through its work on the reduction of post-harvest agricultural losses, by promoting the use of improved preservation, storage, and packaging methods, ITPO Italy acts directly on the reduction of poverty and hunger.
