Worldwide

UNIDO is represented by and acts through designated country or regional offices, a network composed of Investment and Technology Promotion Offices, National Cleaner Production Centres, and International Technology Centres.

UNIDO further cooperates and communicates with Ministries of industry and various institutional key actors active in developing countries. These links are strategic focal points with local governments and are a strong support to ITPO Italy’s mandate.

UNIDO ITPO Italy, though fully participating in UNIDO’s Network, is directly linked to a set of public and private institutional counterparts including agencies for the promotion of SMEs and industrial development, agencies for investment promotion and the private sector located in several developing countries whether in the Mediterranean (Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan and Egypt), Latin America, Asia or Sub-Saharan Africa.

ITPO Italy further closely cooperates with sector, industry and craft associations (Employers groups, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, other specialized groupings of industries, crafts, and trades) in the countries where it is actively engaged in cooperation.

MDGs and Poverty

Together with UNIDO Vienna, ITPO Italy contributes to the reaching of MDG 1 (poverty and hunger reduction), by acting on the creation of jobs through the development of sustainable industries. It further intends to support the reaching of this goal by giving greater importance to the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa. By concentrating its forces on the reduction of post-harvest agricultural losses, by promoting the use of improved preservation, storage, and packaging methods, ITPO Italy acts directly on the reduction of poverty and hunger.
