UNIDO  has a number of representative offices throughout the world, with national or regional duties, including a network of Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (ITPOs) and other operating offices networks related to specific programmes.

UNIDO ITPO Italy also counts on its own network of contacts active in the promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises  (SMEs), industry and investments, especially in the Mediterranean region, in Latin America, Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

ITPOs operate as intermediate platforms between the public and private sectors, with the aim of contributing to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

According to UNIDO’s principles, ITPO Italy pays particular attention to the MDGs 1 and 7: eradicating extreme poverty and hunger and ensuring environmental sustainability.

ITPO is committed to achieving these objectives through the development of the agro-industrial sector and the promotion of conservation, processing and packaging techniques, aimed both at reducing post-harvest agricultural losses and at increasing  products’ value. The office also focuses its efforts on disseminate eco-friendly and efficient technologies, functional to ensure economic/industrial development sensitive to environmental issues and energy efficiency.
