Mazara del Vallo (Tp), 13 February 2017 - As part of the collaboration established with the Fisheries District of Mazara del Vallo, UNIDO ITPO Italy participated in the Observatory of Mediterranean fisheries, a body aimed at monitoring the biological and technical aspects, as well as the socio-economic and environmental issues of the industry, deepening the analysis and knowledge of the Mediterranean fishery industry. At this purpose, the Observatory proposes initiatives for the preservation of fisheries resources, for the modernization and internationalization of companies belonging to the district.

In this context, ITPO Italy presented the project aimed at supporting the fishery chain in West Africa, involving four countries (Senegal, Mauritania, Côte d'Ivoire and Guinea) with the aim of increasing the market access for the operators in the sector. The Fisheries District of Mazara showed considerable interest in the project, especially in a perspective of creating partnership. At this purpose, UNIDO ITPO Italy will organize an Economic Forum and a professional tour next May, a useful occasion to meet local counterparts.
