In the context of the delegates program for Mozambique (www.unido.it/mozambico), from 14 November to 15 December 2016, UNIDO ITPO Italy hosted Mr. Delfim Vilissa, technical expert from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of Mozambique. He spent a month in Italy promoting concrete opportunities offered by his country over the entire agricultural and agro-industrial value chain, receiving a targeted training on UNIDO’s methodologies and procedures for the evaluation of specific investment and technology transfer projects.

With the support of the ITPO’s staff and in the framework of the Office’s activities in Mozambique, the delegate visited over 10 Italian municipalities. He had the opportunity to meet about 50 stakeholders – including companies, institutions, research centers and universities – potentially interested in the African country, laying the foundation for fruitful joint programming to the benefit of Mozambique and In line with the need to ensure local inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

Within the full schedule organized for the Mozambican delegate, ITPO Italy also organized specific Professional Tours in European centers of excellence in the field of research and technology transfer, such as: Parco Tecnologico Padano in Lodi and the Mach Foundation in San Michele d’Adige; company visit to Idromeccanica Lucchini in Turin, leader company in the greenhouses and forest biomass sectors; institutional meetings in Turin for the strategic planning of programs to the benefit of Mozambique, including with the Agriculture Department of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Reggio Emilia Municipality, and the International Relations Division of the Autonomous Province of Trento.

Upon completing their experience at the ITPO, delegates return to their respective countries of origin creating an international network in support of favourable commercial and investment opportunities between partners from Italy and developing countries. Therefore, the skills’ development of the delegates becomes an asset for both local institutions and local private entities to which they offer their services.
