Festival della Diplomazia - Reset Control

On 30 October UNIDO ITPO Italy joined as speaker the virtual conference session “New Paradigms of Public and Private Relations in International Cooperation” which was organized in the framework of the XI Edition of the Diplomacy Festival, titled “Reset Control”.

Attended by over 100 participants, the discussion explored the future and the role of public-private partnerships towards the attainment of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, as well as in the effort to tackle the current health crisis and food emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this context, UNIDO ITPO Italy highlighted its active commitment to facilitate cooperation between the public and the private sectors in targeted developing countries for local sustainable development. More specifically, the intervention focused on several projects implemented by the Office and the Organization – namely, the Global Call “Innovative Ideas and Technologies vs. COVID-19 and Beyond” promoted by UNIDO and its ITPO network, the webinar series “Doing Green Business” organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy within the project “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions operating in the energy and environment sectors” funded by the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, and UNIDO’s Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) – to accelerate Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development while contributing to the achievement of SDG 9, SDG 17 and the 2030 Agenda.

The panel was moderated by Mr. Federico Niglia from the University for Foreigners of Perugia, and featured the participation of relevant stakeholders from international organizations and companies operating in the field of sustainable development projects  – Mr. Marco Marzano de Marinis from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Ms. Maria Chiara Malaguti from UNIDROIT, Mr. Livio Vanghetti from Philip Morris International, Ms. Sara Roversi from Future Food Network, and Mr. Angelo Della Pietra from Safesec – who also emphasized the crucial need of promoting public-private partnerships for sustainable development.

The event concluded with a final Q&A session, during which the online audience had the opportunity to engage directly with the panelists and further a fruitful discussion and knowledge exchange on sustainability, multilateralism and global cooperation.
