UNIDO ITPO Italy’s online forum “Ethiopia and Kenya: opportunities in the solar energy and water treatment sectors” was held on 25 February 2021, highlighting to the interested Italian business community the investment opportunities and Italian success cases in the two focus sectors of the African target countries.

Moderated by Ms. Livia Canepa and Ms. Eleonora Rella, Investment Promotion Experts of ITPO Italy, the conference opened with the welcome speech of ITPO Italy Head, Ms. Diana Battaggia. The first session featured the interventions of Mr. Giacomo Montemarani, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Italy in Kenya, and Eng. Antonio Monaco, Deputy President of Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, providing a detailed overview of local trends and business opportunities - as well as the interventions of Mr. Matteo Cavadini, Head of Business Development East and West Africa of Enel Green Power, and Mr. Roberto Lupo, Head and Owner of Deltacque srl, presenting success cases of Italian companies in the two countries, respectively in the sectors of solar energy and water treatment. 

The second part of the forum featured a dialogue session among Italian companies and the panelists facilitated by Ms. Hawe Merga Beyene, Assistant Trade Analyst at the ICE Addis Abeba. During this session, the participating companies had the opportunity to actively join the discussion and ask questions, furthering the debate on specific topics of interest and paving the way for the development of potential future business synergies and collaborations.

This successful initiative was organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy as a part of the project “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions operating in the energy and environment sectors”, funded by the Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea.
