CNH Training with Somali companies

In the framework of the project “Agro-technology development for economic growth in South and Central Somalia”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by UNIDO, UNIDO Somalia and ITPO Italy facilitated the participation of five selected Somali companies in two training sessions by CNH Industrial. The events, held online respectively on 25 February and 11 March 2021, provided a platform facilitating technology transfer and know-how exchange, matchmaking activities as well as the development of potential future partnerships between Italian and Somali enterprises.

In the first training session, these prominent Somali companies from the cities of Baidoa, Beletweine, Kismayo and Mogadishu showed great interest in purchasing the wide range of machineries introduced and offered by CNH - namely tractors and harvesters - with the aim to both upgrade the mechanization stage of the local agriculture, as well as to become CNH business partners and distributors in the region for a sustainable financial and economic growth.

During the second session, CNH illustrated its corporate philosophy of communication and branding for potential distribution in Somalia to the local interested companies, and together discussed the upcoming follow-up activities for the next months. In fact, between April and May CNH will meet individually with the Somali companies to further discuss the topics debated during the trainings; while between June and July, according to the situation in terms of travel restrictions, a representative of CNH in Ethiopia would potentially visit in person the Somali companies, in order to evaluate local premises and consider eventual next steps.
