Food For Earth: 24-Hour Earth Day Marathon on Sustainability

On 22 April 2021, UNIDO ITPO Italy Head Ms. Diana Battaggia took part in the second edition of the Global 24-hour Digital Marathon on Sustainability titled “Food For Earth" and organized by the Future Food Institute and the FAO e-learning Academy.

Ms. Battaggia joined the panel discussion "Mediterranean and Mediterranean Diet: Essential Heritage for the Future of Humanity". Moderated by the President of the Future Food Institute Sara Roversi, the discussion saw the interventions of several experts in the field of sustainable agribusiness and innovation in Italy: Stefano Patuanelli, Italian Minister for AgricultureGrammenos Mastojeni, Deputy Secretary General of the Union for the MediterraneanAngelo Riccaboni, Chair of PRIMA Foundation; Benedetto Zacchiroli, President of ICCAR; Prof. Elisabetta Moro from MedEatResearch and University Suor Orsola Benicasa; and Stefano Pisani, Mayor of Pollica.

The event - which was broadcasted live from Pollica, UNESCO Capital and Emblematic Community of Mediterranean Diet and also city of “Climate Shapers” - represented an important global platform to explore topics and further a discussion on environmental, social and economic sustainability in occasion of the International Mother Earth Day 2021.
