UNIDO ITPO Italy organized the participation of an entrepreneurial and institutional delegation from seven partner countries – namely Botswana, Cuba, Ethiopia, Iraq, Kenya, Kazakhstan and Peru – in the 2021 edition of Ecomondo, held in Rimini from 26 to 29 October 2021.

This initiative was organized in the framework of 2 projects implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy: “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions operating in the energy and environment sectors” (FIPEE), funded by the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition, and “Investment Promotion for Iraq – Phase II” (IPI), funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

31 delegates - 28 from 17 companies and 8 institutions from FIPEE partner countries and 3 from Iraqi SMEs - had the opportunity to take actively part in more than 270 B2B meetings (227 for FIPEE and 50 for IPI). 2 institutional delegates also joined as panelists 2 conference sessions held during the exhibition – “Africa Green Growth” and “A roadmap towards sustainable Waste Management practices worldwide”, respectively organized by Res4Africa Foundation and the International Solid Waste Association.

Thanks to the support offered by UNIDO ITPO Italy, the delegates had the opportunity to meet local exhibitors at the fair and discover cutting-edge innovations from Italy and beyond in the field of green technologies and renewable energies, paving the way for potential collaborations and partnerships.

As the first of many follow-up activities, UNIDO ITPO Italy has already involved 8 more Iraqi companies in 20 online B2B meetings to be held in the days after the conclusion of the fair.
