UNIDO ITPO Italy supports the policy dialogue in Botswana to favour the adoption of solar and clean energy solutions

In the framework of the project “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions in the energy and environment sectors” (FIPEE), on 9th September 2021 UNIDO ITPO Italy took part in the 3rd SOLTRAIN Policy Workshop Botswana, aimed at advancing the Solar Thermal Technology Roadmap and Implementation Plan for Botswana.

SOLTRAIN is a solar thermal development programme being implemented in the SADC region (including Botswana) that aims to address current barriers and support the implementation of the Botswana Solar Thermal Roadmap through capacity building, awareness campaigns, grant funding for demonstration projects, and policy dialogue towards a wider uptake of innovative technologies for clean energies. This roadmap is also fully supported by the Department of Energy and the Ministry of Minerals, Green Technology and Energy Security, cognizant of its role in increasing the share of renewable energy throughout the country.

During the workshop UNIDO ITPO Italy Investment Promotion Expert and responsible for the implementation of FIPEE activities in the Botswana Mr. Enrico Siepi, and Ms. Onneetse Ndadi, the new Expert on Energy and Environment for Botswana, had the opportunity to outline the main features of the FIPEE project and its goal to favour international cooperation between the public and private sector in the field of energy and environment.
