In the framework of the project “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions operating in the energy and environment sectors” (FIPEE), on 14th September 2021 UNIDO ITPO Italy met with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Botswana, with the goal of advancing policy dialogue to promote circular economy and green industries in the country.

During the meeting UNIDO ITPO Italy Head Ms. Diana Battaggia - together with Investment Promotion Expert and Responsible for Botswana Mr. Enrico Siepi and Ms. Onneetse Ndadi, UNIDO ITPO Italy’s new Expert in Energy and Environment for Botswana - met with Ms. Obusitswe Tiroesele, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Minister of Trade and Industry of Botswana, Ms. Ruth Baoki, Director of Department of Industrial Affairs, and Ms. Neo Mahube, Investor Facilitation Director at Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA). The meeting was also joined by Mr. Tebo Motswagae, Deputy Director - Doing Business and Investment - of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and Board Member at Botswana Innovation Center (BITC); Mr. Tigele Nleya, Manager of Investment Promotion at BITC; and Ms. Kelebogile Khathi, from the Embassy of Botswana in Brussels.

The meeting represented an important occasion to brief the Ministry of Industry on the progress of FIPEE project in Botswana, as well as to invite H.E. Mr. Mmusi Kgafela, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, to participate in the upcoming edition of the World Manufacturing Forum, which will take place in Cernobbio, Italy, from 20 to 21 October 2021.
