UNIDO ITPO Italy supported a business delegation from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (KRG) in their participation at the 43rd edition of SIGEP, the Dolce World Expo held in Rimini, Italy from 12th to 16th March 2022.

The in-person business delegation assisted was composed of two representatives of Gelato, one of the major local groups operating in the field of ice cream, with four branches spread across the region. The representatives took part in 15 B2B meetings with local exhibitors at the fair, paving the way for future commercial interactions. Sectors of major interest for the delegates were ingredients and semifinished products, retail containers and technology for the cold-chain.

Furthermore, on the digital platform of SIGEP, UNIDO ITPO Italy also supported 8 more Iraqi companies from the UNIDO network and interested in purchasing ingredients and semifinished products, machineries for pastry, chocolate and bakery, and packaging for food products. The companies had the opportunity to take part in 25 online B2B meetings with local exhibitors of the fair.

This initiative was organized in the framework of the project "Investment Promotion for Iraq - Phase II" (#IPI) funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by UNIDO.
