Cuba officially joins the World Packaging Organization (WPO)

Thanks to the support provided by UNIDO ITPO Italy, the Cuban National Center for Packaging and Containers (CNEE) has officially joined the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).

This achievement is the result of a series of promotional activities organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy within the framework of the project “Capacity Building on Investment for Cuban Government”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

Within the context of the study tour in Italy from 2nd to 6th May 2022 organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy for high-level representatives of the Cuban Ministry of Industries (MINDUS), Cuba was officially accepted as a new member of the World Packaging Organization during the WPO board meeting reunited on 5th May 2022 in Milan, Italy — in the framework of the 2022 IPACK-IMA, the fair specialized in food and non-food processing and packaging — at the presence of WPO President Prof. Pierre Pienaar and General Secretary Dr. Johannes Bergmair.

MINDUS Deputy Minister Ms. Yamilín González Milián commented: “Becoming a WPO member is a great opportunity for the CNEE to enable the access relevant information, training, specialized technical advice and the assimilation of new technological and productive know-how, to optimize management and local industrial development in Cuba.”
