The “Technical & Promotional Webinar with Cermac — Italian Producers of Technologies and Products for Agriculture, Agroindustry and Zootechnics”, organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy in collaboration with Cermac and dedicated to Iraqi SMEs in the field, was successfully held on Wednesday 18th May 2022.

Moderated by UNIDO ITPO Italy’s Investment Promotion Expert Mr. Andrea Carapellese, the webinar opened with the welcome remarks of UNIDO National Technical Coordinator for Iraq Mr. Abdulhadi Al-Hatem and President of Cermac Mr. Enrico Turoni, as well as several Iraqi institutions — including the Iraqi Federation of Industries and local chambers of commerce, farmer trade unions and associations, universities and ministry of agriculture.

During the main session of the online conference, 12 Italian companies in the field of agribusiness illustrated their innovative technologies in several sub-sectors — such as greenhouses, seeds and seeders, irrigation, agricultural machinery for fruit and horticulture, and post-harvest — in order to facilitate investment and technology transfer within the country and promote new business opportunities for sustainable development in Iraq. Among these companies, Idromeccanica Lucchini, C-LED, Urbinati, Roter Italia Forigo, Ferrari - Costruzioni Meccaniche, Rinieri, Rovatti Pompe, Irtec, Fratelli Annovi, TR Turoni, Teco, and Fruit Control Equipment.

The webinar concluded with a final interactive Q&A session, during which the Iraqi participants had the opportunity to pose directly questions to the Italian companies and learn more about specific topics of interest, as a first step paving the way towards potential synergies and future collaborations.

This initiative was organized in the framework of the project “Investment Promotion for Iraq — Phase II” (#IPI), funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy.
