Within the framework of the project “Investment Promotion for Iraq — Phase II”, implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy and financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, UNIDO ITPO Italy facilitated the first-ever participation of Iraq in the Annual International Conference & Exhibition — AICE 2023, held from the 1st to the 3rd of May 2023 in Dubai and organized by the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO) under the theme “Global trade 2.0: Zones, An ecosystem of Trust Driving Prosperity”.

UNIDO ITPO Italy assisted a delegation composed of the highest-ranking members of the Government Commission for Industrial Zones from Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government, who also had the opportunity to take part in the workshop “The Advance Leadership Development Seminar”, with ad-hoc sessions on Leadership & Trust, AI & Adaptation, Responsible Business Conduct, and a special session on Green Zones.

The event represented a fruitful occasion to promote investment and networking among stakeholders from industrial zones, free zones and special economic zones from all over the world, as well as for training on key topics of interest for the Iraqi institutional delegates and accreditation with the international community of experts and institutions operating in the field.
