UNIDO Empowers Iraqi Trainers and Counselors with Capacity-Building Programs in Bahrain

A delegation of over 23 trainers, counselors, and coordinators from UNIDO Iraq participated in capacity-building training courses for Training of Trainers (TOT) and Training of Counselors (TOC) in Manama, in Bahrain, from 9th to 13th May 2024.

The training aimed to equip participants with the skills to assess micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) regarding their current performance and growth potential; enable counselors to develop robust problem-solving skills; raise awareness about various counseling styles; and enhance the abilities needed to assist existing entrepreneurs in consolidating their businesses, improving performance, and fostering growth.

Following the training, the delegation attended the World Entrepreneurial Investment Forum (WEIF) 2024 held in Manama, from May 14th to 16th, which coincided with the Arab Leaders Summit 2024. During the conference, graduation certificates were awarded to the Iraqi delegation members who had completed the training course.

The newly-trained counselors and coordinators are now already working on delivering their newfound expertise through tailored Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion (EDIP) initiatives at the EDCs in Erbil, Basra e Thi Qar. Their efforts are instrumental in fostering entrepreneurial development and enhancing the capacities of the private sector in Iraq as well as women-led businesses within the country.

This initiative was made possible through an ambitious collaboration between ITPO Bahrain and ITPO Italy, in the framework of the project "Investment Promotion for Iraq - Phase II", funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy.
