On the road to the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025, to be held in Rome on 10th and 11th July, UNIDO and ITPO Italy took part in the URC 2025 Preparatory Event dedicated to the Business Dimension, held at Palazzo Lombardia in Milan on 5th March 2025. 

Organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, and Lombardy Region, with the support of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), this UCR 2025 preparatory event was aimed at mobilizing the private sector for reconstruction and sustainable economic development in Ukraine. 

In this framework, UNIDO moderated the manufacturing and processing industries working session, held in the plenary conference area, and organized in collaboration with UNIDO ITPO Italy a workshop on its green industrial recovery programme for Ukraine. The workshop notably featured, among the relevant 20 institutional and business representatives attending, the participation as speakers of the First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksii Sobolev, and CEO and CTO of Danieli Group Rolando Paolone, sharing their model for the modernization of steelworks in Ukraine. 

Attracting private capital is key in order to achieve economic growth and a successful reconstruction, based on the building-back-better approach, and SMEs, which are a large part of Ukraine and partners’ economic fabric, should fully participate in the reconstruction process.
