Argentina and Italy signed an agreement on Agro Machinery Sector thanks to UNIDO's support

Rome, April 13th 2011. UNIDO ITPO Italy chaired the operating agreement reached between UNACOMA (The Italian Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers) and AFAMAC (The Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers and Components of the Province of Cordoba). The aim of the agreement is to foster the promotion of new technologies and solutions in the field of the components for agricultural machinery as well as to design and implement, based on the Italian experience, a supplier development programme.

The agreement was endorsed by the Cordoba Minister of Industry, Trade and Employment, Mr. Roberto Avalle, who participated in the meeting and illustrated the potential of the Province of Cordoba. The Province is among the leading producers of wheat and milk from Argentina and has the largest concentration of manufacturers of agricultural machinery industries (35%). The local government has designed an strategic plan, over the next 10 years for the development of some strategic sectors including the agricultural mechanization.
