UNIDO Presents New Investment Opportunities in Perù to Italian Companies

Rome, May 15th 2013. UNIDO ITPO Italy hosted the meeting "Perù-Italy: a Potential Partnership", organized in collaboration with the Private Investment Promotion Agency, ProInversiòn, and the Embassy of Perù.

Director of UNIDO Italy, Diana Battaggia, thanked the participating companies and announced hope for a cooperation between Peruvian and Italian firms as she is aware of other successful partnerships between Italian companies and Latin American countries.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Alfredo Ferreyros Arosemena, the Ambassador of Perù in Italy, and the Director of ProInversión by videoconference from Lima, Mr. Hector Rene Rodriguez. HE Arosemena clamied that his country has a high rate of economic growth and very low inflation while Mr. Rodriguez presented the Italian companies and associations (Unioncamere, Enel and Ferrovie dello Stato, etc.) some investment opportunities currently offered by Perù. The twenty projects focus on the construction, financing, and maintenance of: ports, roads, power lines, airports and transportation, treatment and disposal of waste water, the supply of fiber optic networks and advanced wireless services, and the maintenance of facilities and equipment of the National Institute of Child Health site in the district of San Borja.

In closing, Ambassador Arosemena announced the Embassy's availability to cooperate with UNIDO ITPO Italy in supporting Italian entrepreneurs that are eager to explore Peruvian reality.

This event is part of the initiatives promoted by UNIDO and aimed at supporting the economic and industrial development of Latin American countries. UNIDO promotes international cooperation between companies in order to favor all parties involved.
