UNIDO ITPO Italy brings Ghana to the “Padua Space Week”

Padova, 3-8 December 2017 - As part of its activities supporting companies and institutions from developing countries, UNIDO ITPO Italy facilitated the participation of a Ghanaian delegate to a 5-days study tour in Italy on aerospace industry, organized by Padua Special Agency for Internationalization of the local Chamber of Commerce – PROMEX – from 3 to 8 December 2017 within the “Padova Space Week”. After a selection procedure carried out in collaboration with our local partner WTC Accra, ITPO Italy identified the Africa World Airlines as beneficiary for the mentioned interesting training opportunity on this highly growing industry in Africa.

During the 5-day study tour, selected delegates had the opportunity to meet and visit selected local companies operating in the optical, mechanical and electronic sectors in the aerospace industry.

Africa World Airlines is a Ghanaian registered private-sector company which has been in operations for close to 5 years that operates flights to the main cities of Ghana as Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Takoradi as well as to Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria. It is expected that the airline will expand its operations to Liberia, Sierra-Leone and Cote d’Ivoire very soon.

Promex is a special agency dedicated to international activities and has been set up with the aim of assisting Padua’s business system in addressing the global market. Promex offers services and solutions to small and medium-sized businesses that from the local area intend to expand abroad and link Padua’s potentialities and resources with opportunities on the international markets.
