Eastern Africa Business Forum

Rome, June 12th – UNIDO ITPO Italy held a panel within the “Eastern Africa Business Forum (EABF). Doing Business in Eastern Africa countries: business opportunities for African and Italian companies”, which took place at Confindustria Nazionale on June 11th-12th.

The event was organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy, Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo e Pavia & Ansaldo Law Firm in collaboration with 9 African Embassies in Italy.

The EABF focused on renewable energy, agribusiness, infrastructures, waste treatment, pharmaceutical and ethical fashion sectors and it consisted of multiple sessions: a plenary conference to illustrate pivotal cases history from Italian companies operating in the above sectors, a following session of dedicated workshops on agribusiness and ethical fashion and a closing session of BtoB meetings between Italian companies and 9 African companies from: Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Comoros, Kenya, Somalia, Sud Sudan, Tanzania e Uganda.

On the sideline to the conference, two company visits have been arranged: business and institutional delegations from Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia had the opportunity to visit Bioversity International and the RE(f)USE - Carmina Campus, a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to fashion and design made reusing refused materials.

The Forum as a whole turned out crucial in providing a detailed overview about Eastern Africa’s economic framework as well as in sharing the best practices with the representatives of African countries and enhancing the cooperation between Italian and Africa companies within multiple sectors.
