SDGs and Ethical Fashion at the “South Africa and Italy” Conference

Milan, July 3rd - UNIDO ITPO Italy together with African and Italian companies met to discuss how to combine Fashion Industry and ethical issues during the Conference “South Africa and Italy: emerging designers and affirmed fashion brands promoting the principles of Ethical Fashion”, which took place on July 3rd at Pavia & Ansaldo Law Firm in Milan.

The target of the Conference was to involve participants in the commitment to change the path of fashion, reducing its negative environmental and social impacts, and to co-operate towards spreading the knowledge and implementing the SDG’s among companies in the fashion industry.           

The Forum was opened by Ms. TSD Nxumalo, Consul-General of South Africa in Milan and gone on with several fashion designers both from South Africa and Italy, such as Francesca Liberatore, who explained how they embrace the standards of ethical fashion, so as to contribute to sustainable development in the fashion industry.       
In addition, a panel was dedicated to the financial sector for sustainable development, with the remarkable speech of Mr. Carlo Segni, (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti), and Mr. Mauro Bombacigno, Head of Engagement BNP Paribas Italia.

UNIDO ITPO Italy took the floor, delivering a speech about the link between the Fashion Industry and the SDGs, with the aim of outlining how ITPO Italy promote and support Ethical Fashion through its on-going activities.
