UNIDO organizes a webinar at SEALOGY to boost the Fishery Sector of Somalia

Organized by SEALOGY – the European Exhibition on Blue Economy –  in collaboration with UNIDO, the Blue Webinar “Development of sustainable fisheries in Somalia” is taking place on 19 November 2020 from 11:00 to 12:30 during the SEALOGY Digital Preview.

The online conference, moderated by UNIDO ITPO Italy, will see the participation of relevant institutions and international organizations – such as UNIDO Somalia, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Resources (MoFMR), and the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) – as well as several Somali small and medium enterprises operative in the fishery sector.

Panelists will present the existing opportunities in the Somali fisheries, giving also space to the private sector. Indeed, 4 selected Somali companies will have the chance to present their business and promote international partnerships in the field of boat construction, fishing tools, cold storage and fish processing. The initiative is aimed at promoting investment and trade opportunities for a sustainable industrial development of fisheries in Somalia.

The webinar is organized in the framework of the project “Agro-Technology Development for Economic Growth in South and Central Somalia” funded by AICS and implemented by UNIDO.

Taking place online from 19 to 22 November 2020, SEALOGY Digital Preview is an international online event supported by the European Commission, bringing together experts and stakeholders from all sectors of the Blue Economy to advance the sustainability of maritime supply chains.

The event will be held in English.
