ESOF 2020 at Farnesina: Connecting Trieste and EXPO Dubai 2020 to promote tech transfer and fostering cooperation

Rome, 22 November 2018. Fostering the involvement of Central-Eastern European countries in ESOF2020 and the internationalization of Italian research. These are the main objectives of the meeting that has taken place today at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The Euroscience Open Forum — scheduled on 5-9 July 2020 — and all the initiatives related to Trieste European City of Science had been presented to more than 60 ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, including those from Central-Eastern Europe.

In 2020 Trieste will host the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF), a biennial Pan-European event created by the EuroScience association and dedicated to scientific research and innovation. ESOF is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and discussion for scientists, innovators, policy makers, entrepreneurs and the general public.

UNIDO ITPO Italy is strictly involved in all the activities in view of ESOF2020 within the framework of  ‘Innovation Bridge Trieste – Dubai 2020’ project. "Our goal - said Diana Battaggia, head of UNIDO ITPO Italy - is to create a link between Trieste and Dubai, as established by our mandate that promotes technology transfer and capacity building. My wish is to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 9, that promotes inclusive and sustainable industrialization and fosters innovation, at the service of community". 

The city of Trieste has experienced the development of important international and national research institutes for research, technology transfer and the dissemination of science, gathering  plenty of global high-level researchers. As a Central European city, Trieste will work to make ESOF2020 an opportunity for strengthening links with Central and Eastern European scientists, businesses, politicians and citizens.
