Innovation Bridge: UNIDO ITPO Italy takes part in GMIS 2021 at Expo 2020 Dubai with Blue Innovation Hub

Within the framework of the project “Innovation Bridge Trieste Dubai 2020”, UNIDO ITPO Italy and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region took part in the 2021 edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit - GMIS, taking place from 22 to 27 November at Expo 2020 Dubai.

In this context, on 23 November UNIDO ITPO Italy and FVG Region held the panel session “Harnessing digital technologies for powering the Blue Economy: Lessons learned from the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Network”. Moderated by UNIDO ITPO Italy’s Chief Technical Advisor Mr. Dino Fortunato, the conference featured the participation of relevant experts in the blue economy sector, namely: Ms. Maria Cristina Pedicchio, President of the Cluster MareFVG; Mr. Salvatore Dore, Start-up Support Innovation Office at the University of Trieste; Dr. Aneel Salman, Director of the Faculty Development Academy at COMSATS University Islamabad; Mr. Lorenzo Giombini, Executive Director of Strategy of Vault Investments LLC and CEO of Vault Management Consultants; Ms. Eva Canevarolo, EU Financial Manager at Polo Tecnologico Alto Adriatico; Dr. Nobuyuki Yagi, Professor at the University of Tokyo.

In order to showcase the Blue Innovation Hub and further initiatives in the framework of the project Innovation Bridge and beyond, at GMIS 2021 UNIDO ITPO Italy and the FVG Region also featured an ad-hoc stand, which was notably visited by many relevant international public and private stakeholders in the arena of sustainable development: among these, former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

UNIDO ITPO Italy also had the opportunity to visit the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), global cross-sectoral hub and first free zone community of the region, at the presence of the CEO His Excellency Hussain Al Mahmoudi.
