On 28th May 2025 UNIDO ITPO Italy had the pleasure of meeting with Prof. Rudy Montero Mata, Vice Minister of CITMA Cuba (Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Medio Ambiente), Mrs. Bárbara de la C. Calcedo, Director General of Economy and Human Resources at CITMA, and H.E. Mirtha Granda Averhoff, Ambassador of Cuba in Italy, to discuss the new cooperation initiative to advance sustainable and inclusive economic development in Cuba.

Building on the experience of the FIPEE project (2019–2023), this new mission will focus on promoting a circular economy and green industrial innovation, particularly in the Province of Sancti Spíritus. At the heart of the initiative is the creation of a Regional Innovation Center for Circular Economy (CCE). UNIDO ITPO Italy is grateful for the strong collaboration with CITMA and the support of the Cuban Embassy in Italy, and looks forward to jointly advancing this impactful initiative.
