Milan, 29 May - 1 June 2018 - UNIDO ITPO Italy participated to the 24th edition IPACK-IMA 2018, the international fair on packaging technologies held at Fiera Milano Rho, with a delegation composed by representatives of 3 institutions and 15 companies from Mozambique, and companies from Ethiopian, Iran, and Pakistan.
During the three days, the delegation had the opportunity to acquire knowledges about the entire food and non-food production, from processing to packaging, and from storage to the distribution. In this framework, UNIDO ITPO Italy organized over 150 BtoB meetings between the delegation and the Italian exhibitors, in the agribusiness sector focused on innovation, with the aim to promote technological transfer as well as identify potential commercial partners.
Among the several activities, it is worth mentioning the meeting between Finana, Mozambican company, engaged in the production of banana flour, represented by Filomena Matimbe, and the University of Catania. Prof. Rosa Palmeri illustrated methods and techniques for improving the quality of the product, setting the basis for Finana's access to international markets. Furthermore, the Ethiopian company EthioGreen, represented by Ms. Rahel Moges, addressed during the "Save Food" conference, illustrating its experience as well as the ongoing partnership with the Italian company Planet Links, supported by UNIDO ITPO Italy.
On completion of the program, on 31 May 2018, the delegation from the four Countries met Future Food Institute during the "Workshop on Food Innovation in Developing Countries" hosted by an original farmhouse and now thriving cultural centre Cascina Cuccagna in Milan.
The four days in Milan represented for the delegation an occasion of knowledge and experience exchange as well as of investments promotion concerning innovation in the agri-food sector, in line with the objectives of UNIDO ITPO Italy.
