LUISS Business School: “Youth Communicators for Development - A bridge between Italy and Pakistan”

On 24 March 2021 UNIDO ITPO Italy participated in the final event of the "Youth Communicators for Development" project - conducted by Luiss Business School on behalf of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) under the guidance of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Office in Islamabad.

In this framework, UNIDO ITPO Italy Head Ms. Diana Battaggia joined as speaker the virtual roundtable "Youth Communicators for Development and Cooperation between Italy and Pakistan", with an intervention focused on the activities carried out by UNIDO ITPO Italy to increase the number of industrial projects in Pakistan through business-oriented cooperation with Italian partners, highlighting the key role played by youth, innovation, green technologies and strategic partnerships for an inclusive and sustainable industrial development in the country, in line with UNIDO's mandate and the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

Featuring the participation of many international experts from universities, institutions and the private sector of both Italy and Pakistan, the event represented an opportunity not only to present the project activities, but also to strengthen the cooperation and the relations between the two countries.

 

Insight

The project is a part of the Programme for Poverty Reduction in the rural areas of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Neighboring Areas.

The project includes, in addition to the PPAF, 17 partner organizations, 38 local governments in 14 of the least developed districts of Pakistan.

The general objective of the program is "to reduce the poverty of the population through the creation of sustainable conditions of social and economic development, including increase in income and productive capacity".
