On 7th October 2021 UNIDO ITPO Italy hosted a bilateral meeting with high-level representatives of the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation of Botswana (MIAC) and the Embassy of Botswana to Italy at UNIDO ITPO Italy's headquarter in Rome.

The Botswanan governmental delegation was composed of the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape; the Ambassador of Botswana to Italy, His Excellency Samuel O. Outlule; the Director of the Department of Europe and Americas, Mr. Tebelelo A. Boang; the Second Secretary of the Botswanan Embassy to Italy, Ms. Same Baaitse; and Senior Foreign Affairs Officer, Ms. Masego Forembi.

During the meeting, UNIDO ITPO Italy Head Ms. Diana Battaggia and the team of UNIDO ITPO Italy briefed the MIAC and the Embassy about the development of the project “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions operating in the energy and environment sectors” (FIPEE), highlighting the meetings held with investment agencies and institutional stakeholders from Botswana and the several activities already implemented and being implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy. Among these, the "FIPEE Call for High Impact Cleantech" and the organization of an entrepreneurial delegation from Botswana to participate in the 2021 edition of the Ecomondo exhibition.

Minister Kwape expressed his appreciation and support with regards to the activities of UNIDO ITPO Italy to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in Botswana, which paves the way for new synergies within specific industrial sectors - with a focus on energy and environment - and fostering cooperation between UNIDO ITPO Italy and the Government of Botswana.
