FIPEE: mitigating forest degradation in Ethiopia with the Ethiopian Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission and Bluebiloba

As a part of the FIPEE project funded by the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition, on 17 January 2022 UNIDO ITPO Italy facilitated and took part in a meeting between the Italian startup Bluebiloba and the Ethiopian Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission (EFCCC).

Taking place as a follow-up activity of the meetings held within the framework of the 2021 edition of Ecomondo (the green technology expo hosted in Rimini, Italy from 26 to 29 October 2021), this meeting was aimed at practically defining the next steps of the collaboration between Bluebiloba and EFCCC, with a special focus on mitigating forest degradation in Ethiopia.

Bluebiloba provides innovative ICT solutions in the field of precision forestry, aimed at mapping and monitoring the status of forests - one of the most threatened natural ecosystems in Ethiopia. Against this background, the application of such technologies in the country could contribute in the national efforts to tackle the ongoing deforestation process and biodiversity loss, while safeguarding and nurturing the local forests and environment.
