Philippine Delegate tour to the Consortium for the Development of the Geothermic Areas of Tuscany

Tuscany, November 23rd 2015 – Within the framework of the study tour program aimed at improving the knowledge of Italian productive excellences, the delegate from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry had the chance to meet Cosvig, the consortium for the development of the geothermic areas of Tuscany. The entity promotes the socio economic development of this territory, and facilitate the fulfillments of technical and financial requirements concerning geothermic energy.

One of the main initiatives achieved by Cosvig has been the set up of a Renewable Energies District, consisting of an area of about 1.200 square kilometers, located in the northern part of the region and known as “traditional geothermic area”, a place where the potential of natural resources is high. Here the delegate had the opportunity to meet different industrial realities from the territory, and to directly observe the plants exploiting geothermic energy.

After that, the delegate visited CEGLab, the lab in Larderello of the excellency center for geothermal processes, an advanced research center where it is possible to run tests, experiments and trials on products and processes.

Finally, in the afternoon Mr. Evangelista met Vapori di Birra, a company which is part of the Tuscany Community for Food and Renewable Energies, another initiative carried out by Cosvig, aimed at supporting those companies in the food processing sector which use geothermic plants. Vapori di Birra is a brewery which exploits geothermic steam as energy source in its industrial process, through the utilization of highly technological and ecofriendly machineries.
