Rome, 13 April 2016 - UNIDO ITPO Italy Head Mrs. Diana Battaggia, accompanied by Mr. Andrea Carapellese and Mr. Dino Fortunato, met today the new Ambassador of Mozambique in Rome HE Maria Manuela Lucas. At the moment Mozambique is one of the most important target country of UNIDO ITPO Italy, due to the Technical Project “Support to Mozambique’s SMEs in Investment Promotion” implemented by the office from 2015 with the support of the Centro de Promoção de Investimentos (Investment Promotion Centre), identified as main local institutional counterpart.

The objective of the project is to support the Mozambican Government to increase local and national production and improve the competitiveness of local SMEs through technology transfers and investment promotion, with a focus on agro industry. The project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, aims at encouraging productivity, facilitate job creation, occupational health and safety and environmental sustainability through global partnerships and in alignment with ISID – Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development.

After the presentation of the project, UNIDO ITPO Italy staff shared with HE the Ambassador the activities scheduled for 2016 such as projects promotion, roundtables and Country presentations, delegate programmes, ad hoc institutional incomings and trainings, and participation to international fairs, in Italy and Mozambique.

It’s worth mentioning that the Ambassador expressed openness and willingness to develop synergies and to cooperate with UNIDO ITPO Italy within this ambitious project in benefiting the Mozambican business community.
