Mr. Saliou Seck, a Delegate representing the “DASP - Direction D’Appui Au Secteur Privé” – an agency from the Senegalese Ministry of Economy and Finance - aimed at supporting the SMEs, spent the month of July at UNIDO ITPO Italy, in order to promote a portfolio of investment projects among the Italian business community and relevant local stakeholders. The projects concerned several fields, such as agribusiness, fishery, cattle raising, food processing and industrial sectors like tannery and mechanics.

The presence of Mr Seck represented an occasion for Italian entrepreneurs to have up-to-date information about Senegalese projects as well as investment opportunities in Senegal. The Delegate’s agenda, included more than 30 business meetings with entrepreneurs and Company Associations in order to provide the relevant information on the different investment and technology transfer opportunities.

Furthermore, during the Study tour organized by the ITPO in Nord-Eastern part of Italy, Mr. Seck had the chance to visit several firms and production plants and to meet some important institutional representatives.

The Senegalese Delegate could exchange opinions with Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali’s staff on topics such as energy production from renewable resources and “smart” managing transmission systems and distribution net.Besides, he was also able to establish contacts with leading companies in corn milling (De Franceschi, Spa) and milling equipments and agriculture machines (Agrex spa).

The meeting with Promex Padova, Special Agengy of Padua Chamber of Commerce, was also useful for networking and for the promotion of Senegalese projects, receiving first hand information from a province that counts on more than 16000 agro-industry-related companies.

During his stay in Italy, Mr. Seck has provided entrepreneurs and institutional stakeholders with information on the economic and fiscal facilities that his Country offers to foreign investors.
