UNIDO ITPO Italy supported Mozambique at Macfrut 2018

Rimini, 9-11 May 2018 - For the third consecutive year, UNIDO ITPO Italy supported the participation of a delegation from Mozambique composed of entrepreneurs of the agribusiness sector to the international agricultural fair MACFRUT, which was held at the Rimini Expo Centre from 9 to 11 May 2018. During the last years, Mozambique has become a focal point in the action of UNIDO ITPO Italy, which is working on projects aimed at unleashing the potential of the country in the field of fruit and vegetables production.

MACFRUT is one of the most prominent agricultural fairs at the international level and the participation of the Delegation has a great importance for business partnerships creation and technology transfers to enable Mozambique to enhance its agribusiness sector. This year, for the first time not only did the delegates participate as visitors but also as exhibitors, thanks to the presence of an exhibition stand to showcase products from the Country. With the support of UNIDO ITPO Italy and the Mozambican Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), the Mozambican representatives had BtoB meetings with experts and managers of Italian companies mainly operating in the seeds, packaging and processing machinery sectors. In addition, the Mozambican products exposed such as Moringa and dehydrated tropical fruit had a remarkable success.

Furthermore, in the framework of the participation to MACFRUT, UNIDO ITPO Italy organized a 2-days study tour in the area of Cesena for the representative of the Mozambican  company Soluções Rurais, operating in the seeds sector. Through the visits to the factories of companies such as Maraldi Sementi, Anseme, Hortus Sementi and Galassi Sementi, the Mozambican delegate got the opportunity to get acquainted with cutting edge technology and innovative production processes. These activities prepared the way to potential collaboration and partnerships, in line with the scope of the project implemented in Mozambique.
