UINDO ITPO Italy’s virtual inception mission to Morocco continued on 18 and 19 January 2022, respectively on the occasion of the meetings with CETEMCO (Le Centre Techniques des Matériaux de Construction) and AMDIE, the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency.

The first meeting was facilitated by UNIDO ITPO Italy’s Investment Promotion Expert for Morocco Mr. Enrico Siepi and attended by CETEMCO’s Deputy Director Mr. Said Bouanani and Engineer in charge of project Ms. Sanaa El Maghiri. Considering that the sectors of waste management, disposal of inert and construction materials are one of the priority sectors of intervention in Morocco, CETEMCO represents an ideal partner for the implementation of the FIPEE activities for technical assistance within the country. 

During the second meeting UNIDO ITPO Italy’s FIPEE Coordinator Ms. Valentina Maltese joined Mr. Siepi and met with Ms. Yasmina Sbihi, Responsible in Italy of AMDIE. The meeting allowed to illustrate the main activities of the FIPEE project and to encourage the support from this Moroccan economic institution for the promotion of business relations between the two countries, with special reference to the two target sectors of the FIPEE project — namely renewable energies and waste treatment, so as to support the country in its transition process to a circular economy model.

Insight

CETEMCO is an interprofessional association created in December 1996 on the initiative of product manufacturers and construction companies, with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The centre is the technical support organization for the construction sector and the following industries: cement and briquettes producers, concrete and ceramic as well as marble manufacturers. 

AMDIE, the Moroccan Investment and Export Agency, plays a driving role in the sectoral promotion of the Moroccan offer, contributes to the creation of added value and jobs, and strengthens competitiveness throughout the territory. AMDIE seeks to be an effective tool for promotion investment and export and manages to develop exhibition spaces aimed at promoting investment and exportation.
