More than 40 Egyptian companies attended the webinar “The Practical Italian Expertise in the primary production of fresh Tomato”, held on 23rd February 2022 within the framework of the project “Inclusive and sustainable development of the tomato value chain in Egypt”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by UNIDO.

Opened by the welcome remarks of UNIDO TVC National Project Coordinator Dr. Omar Abdin and UNIDO ITPO Italy’s Investment Promotion Expert Mr. Francesco Pallocca, the webinar offered to the participating Egyptian companies an introduction to the Macfrut exhibition by Ms. Cecilia Marzocchi and Ms. Chiara Campanini, respectively Foreign Affairs and International Marketing Officer at Macfrut. This virtual roundtable also featured the participation of: Mr. Lorenzo Pelliconi, Export Manager at SAIS SEMENTI, illustrating seed varieties and seed production in the field of tomato cultivation; Mr. Alessandro Pirondi, Export Manager at BIOLCHIM, sharing best practices in using bio stimulants and fertilizers; and Mr. Egidio Frattarelli, Export Sales Manager at SER.MAC, introducing innovation and technology in sorting machines.

Concluded by a participated Q&A session, the event successfully allowed to promote knowledge exchange among Italian and Egyptian stakeholders operating along the tomato value chains, fostering potential technology transfer and opportunities for collaboration in the field between Italy and Egypt.
