"Doing Green Business in Morocco"

With more than 70 attendees, UNIDO ITPO Italy's online conference “Doing Green Business in Morocco” was held on 29th March 2022: a country presentation dedicated to Italian companies interested in discovering new business opportunities in the Moroccan sectors of energy and environment.

Moderated by UNIDO ITPO Italy Investment Promotion Expert for Morocco Mr. Enrico Siepi, the conference opened with the welcome remarks of: UNIDO ITPO Italy Head Ms. Diana Battaggia; His Excellency Armando Barucco, Ambassador of Italy to Morocco and Mauritania; Mr. Luigi Mauro Martire, Coordinator for Bilateral Environmental Cooperation in the MENA region at the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition - who also conveyed the welcome remarks of the Plenipotentiary Minister Alessandro Modiano, Director General for European and International Affairs at MiTE; Mr. Rachid Firadi, Head of Partnerships, Communication and Cooperation at the Ministry of Energetic Transition and Sustainable Development of Morocco; and Ms. Sanae Lahlou, UNIDO Country Representative in Morocco.

The panel session featured the insightful presentations of several international and local experts in the field: among these, Ms. Lucia Cartini, Coordinator for UNIDO Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) in Morocco; Mr. Ali Mehrez, Project Manager for Strategic and Institutional Partnerships at AMDIE - the Moroccan Agency for Development of Investment and Export; Mr. Ali Zerouali, Manager for Cooperation and International Development at MASEN - the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy; Mr. Ahmed Squalli, Secretary General of AMISOLE - the Moroccan Association of Solar and Wind Industries, Board Member of FENELEC - the National Federation of Electricity, Electronics and Renewable Energies, and Director General of NRJ International; Mr. Alami Jaoudat, Chief of Trade Services at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Casablanca-Settat; and Ms. Sanaa El Maghri, Project Manager at CETEMCO - the Technical Center for Building Materials.

Organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy within the framework of the project “Fostering international partnerships between companies and/or institutions operating in the energy and environment sectors” (#FIPEE) funded by the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition, this initiative was the first in a series of future activities, aimed at promoting opportunities for investment and technology transfer in the field between Italy and Morocco.
