Great success for the Vietnam Business Forum
“Enterprise Partnerships for Development”

Ho Chi Minh City, May 26th 2012. Great success for the Vietnam Business Forum “Enterprise Partnerships for Development” organized by UNIDO from 24 to 26 June in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

More than 40 Italian companies and associations participated in the 3 days long event and met more than 90 Vietnamese partners during 300 business meetings. In addition, some preliminary agreements, memoranda of understanding, and letters of intent have been signed, in order to develop institutional initiatives and entrepreneurial agreements.

Following a number of events successfully conducted in Italy to disseminate information on investment opportunities in Vietnam, culminating in the “Road Show Vietnam” organized by UNIDO, the event represented a great opportunity for foreign investors for understanding the potential of Vietnam as a market and investment destination, and to start exploring concrete opportunities of business partnerships through direct and tailored meetings with selected Vietnamese industries and institutions, in the sectors of textile and clothing, footwear and leather products, and furniture.

Vietnam - a country which has been defined by numerous international observers as one of the most promising emerging markets - can be a very competitive production platform for Italian companies that want to establish or increase their presence in the huge and rapidly growing markets of the Asia-Pacific region – a very dynamic area counting around 3 billion citizens.
Establishing a business partnership with a Vietnamese company can open a way to this market also to small and medium size Italian enterprises, which can initially rely on the production facilities and relations provided by a local partner, complementing it with their capacity in design and development of quality products, advanced production management and branding.
Within the enterpreneurial mission, UNIDO ITPO Italy met Mr. Phan Van Ban, a Deputy General Director of the Agency for Industrial Promotion (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) to discuss about specific operational activities to be carried out in the near future in order to facilitate access for Italian companies to the Vietnamese market, as well as to increase competitiveness in the existing industrial clusters. By improving access to capital, as well as by linking technology transfer and capacity building opportunities, UNIDO can keep promoting sustainable development of local economy, especially within the agro industry and green industry sectors.
