Support to Mozambique’s SMEs in Investment Promotion

In the framework of the Technical Project “Support to Mozambique’s SMEs in Investment Promotion” focused on agribusiness, UNIDO ITPO Italy carried out an inception mission to Mozambique in order to open discussions with the Centre for the Promotion of Investments (CPI) and other key stakeholders involved in project implementation.

The mission paved the way for the activities scheduled to be carried out in 2016 such as projects promotion, roundtables and Country presentations, delegate programmes, ad hoc institutional incomings and trainings, and participation to international fairs. The project, funded by IMFAIC, aims to support the Mozambican Government in increasing local production and improving the competitiveness of Mozambique’s SMEs through technology transfers and investment promotion in agribusiness.

During the inception mission ITPO Italy staff organized and carried out a total of 30 bilateral meetings with institutional and private counterparts, 5 company visits and a visit to Maputo, Matola and the Economic Corridor of Beira, one of the 6 high potential development areas identified by the Mozambican Government to boost the Country’s growth within the next  few years.
