Rome, 18 May 2017 - UNIDO ITPO Italy participated in the Conference “Towards the Summit CELAC- EU in El Salvador: The Reflection of the Women of EU and Latin America” held in the premises of the Italian-Latin American Institute (IILA).

The objective of the mission was to present the activities of UNIDO ITPO Italy and to share the actions of UNIDO in Gender and Women Empowerment to the group of Parliamentarians from Bolivia, Peru, Honduras and Uruguay that visit Italy from 18 -22 May.

UNIDO ITPO Italy presented the Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women Strategy 2016-2019 as well as the different projects of women empowerment of UNIDO  in the field of creative industries in Pakistan, cosmetic and gold in Mali, Textile Sector in Peru, Energy in the ECOWAS region and the regional project on Women Empowerment for the Mediterranean and North Africa.

Parliamentarians from Latin America were very interested and underlined the importance of empowering women in economic activities.
