UNIDO ITPO Italy Participated in the Future Agro Challenge Event in Mozambique

Maputo, 16 November 2017 - ITPO Italy, after having actively participated in the promotion of the initiative within its network of agribusiness companies and startups in Mozambique, attended the final event of the agribusiness competition Future Agro Challenge – FAC held at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo, Mozambique.

In this edition of the contest, UNIDO ITPO Italy registered the participation of several local companies that it supports in the framework of the Support to Mozambique’s SMEs in Investment Promotion project, including Quinta Irini and Finana.

Future Agro Challenge is an international competition involving 60 countries to promote innovative solutions in agribusiness, with the winners convening in Istanbul in April 2018. This 2nd Mozambican edition of FAC, which counted on 14 out of 70 selected companies, was organized by the local consulting company DEV Mozambique in partnership with the development finance institution Gapi, Barclays, and African Management Service Company (AMSCO).

In line with its strong international positioning on the theme of agribusiness innovative ideas and technologies in developing countries and in Mozambique specifically, UNIDO ITPO Italy shares the view of Gapi CEO Francisco Antonio Souto that “the FAC is important to stimulate not only young people directly, but also the higher technical education institutes that should incentivize and improve their curriculums and form of teaching”.
