The technical training of the “Call for High Innovative Sustainable Solutions in FVG Region”, organized by UNIDO ITPO Italy and Region Friuli Venezia Giulia with the technical support of Area Science Park, was held in Trieste between 12th and 13th September 2022, to support 5 startups and companies from Friuli Venezia Giulia towards their participation at North Star Dubai.

As a part of the project “Innovation Bridge Trieste-Dubai 2020”, implemented by UNIDO ITPO Italy with the support of Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Call aims to create a virtuous circle of connections among the private, academic, financial, and institutional world of FVG, the United Arab Emirates and beyond to support young entrepreneurs and startup ecosystems, in line with UNIDO's mandate and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

In this framework, the two-day training – opened by UNIDO ITPO Italy's Chief Technical Advisor Mr. Dino Fortunato – offered a business acceleration programme for the benefit of the 5 selected startups, providing best practices and useful tools with international investors, media and partners thanks to the participation of several experts in the field.

UNIDO ITPO Italy and the Region FVG will now offer to the winners of the Call the opportunity to take part in North Star Dubai, an extraordinary show for innovative startups taking place in Dubai from 10th to 13th October 2022, at the same time of the GITEX Global fair, representing the best platform in the world to connect tech startups with investors, buyers and more than 100.000 visitors.

The winning startups supported

Aindo is a startup of SISSA - International School of Advanced Studies of Trieste, founded in 2018 by a group of researchers among the world's leading experts in the generation of synthetic data based in Area Science Park. Since its establishment, Aindo has successfully operated in the artificial intelligence market by closing important contracts with multinationals in three continents, developing solutions that still represent the state of the art in the reference sectors. In 2019 it started the development of a Synthetic Data Platform through which it optimizes the operations of companies thanks to artificial intelligence and machine learning tools and techniques. The company's main product is INTUITE.AI, a first-in-class solution for the generation of synthetic data, a new technological paradigm that will allow the use of even sensitive data on a large scale.

Northern Light Composites is an innovative startup that deals with the research and development of recyclable composites to solve the problems related to end-of-life glass fiber composites. The company was founded in December 2019 and started the project that led to the launch of ecoracer, the first recyclable and flax fiber boat in the world.

NUWA Technologies is an innovative startup, incubated by the Innovation Factory of Area Science Park and now located at the Pordenone Technological Center, developing innovative solutions and cloud services for the music industry. Its mission is to connect artists and professionals in the music industry by providing them with all the tools they need to manage their online activities, to create a single virtual place in order to meet all their needs.

PICOSATS is an innovative company founded in 2014, a spin-off of the University of Trieste, located in Area Science Park. It specializes in the development and design of ultra-high performance miniaturized satellites capable of transmitting data at very high speeds with applications in the telecommunications sector and in environmental monitoring. These are small satellites produced with the aid of 3D printed, modular and in plastic material, which integrate the electrical part inside the structure, making everything much more robust, economical and easy to produce than similar satellites made in aluminum. These picosatellites open a new window for Earth observation, with applications ranging from security to agriculture.

VisionQub.it is a company formed by a multidisciplinary team of experienced researchers and established entrepreneurs with the mission of developing cutting-edge systems and services of robotics and Artificial Intelligence in numerous fields of application, from autonomous driving, to facial recognition, to chatbots, to the dental and medical sector.
